Select a Web Service
You will see a list of different web services that you can link to from HotChalk Ember. The list of web services available for linking is dependent on your university's preferences.
Connect to Web Service
The authorization steps may look different for each web service but the process for granting access to each web service will always be very similar. The example shown below is for authorization of Google Docs.
Click Authorize Google Docs Access to connect to your Google account.
Authorize Access to Web Service Account
If you are already logged in to your Google account, click Grant access . If not, click on the link just below to sign in as a different user .
Once you click Grant access, a green alert at the top of the page will notify you that Google Docs access has been authorized . If the web service was successfully registered with your profile you will see it on the left-hand column under Registered Services .
Allow Visibility of Registered Services to Other Classmates or Group Members
When registering a web service, you have the option to allow other course/group members to see which services you have linked to your profile. By selecting this box, anyone that is enrolled in a course or belongs to a group you are in will be able to see your registered web services in the People tab of your course.
Link Registered Services to Profile
To allow others to see your registered services listed on your profile you must turn this setting on in your profile settings. From your settings page click Profile.
Select Contact Methods you'd Like to be Visible by Others
Check the box if you would like to have the registered web service visible to others on your Profile page.
View Registered Services on Profile
The web services that you selected will now be visible to others on your Profile under "Ways to Contact."
** notes: by default the message icon will always show up as a Way to Contact. If a user clicks this, they will be able to send a message through their Ember Inbox. **
