The content selector allows you to link directly to any existing course objects, giving you great control over how you would like students to access different corresponding content on a page or assignment description. You can quickly insert a link into any existing course content by using the content selector. You can even highlight a block of text to insert a link to corresponding course content. Here, you will learn how to use the content selector to insert existing links, files, or images within a page or an assignment that you are creating.
How to use the content selector
Use the content selector to insert links to existing content
Inserting links to existing and available course content will allow students to click the text in the page or assignment to navigate directly to the desired course object. You can insert links to the following content within a given course:
- Wiki pages
- Course Navigation
Note: In order for students to be able to access the content, existing course objects must be published and students must have access.
Use the content selector to insert files
Inserting links to files within a course will allow students to click on the link to download the given course material. When creating a page or an assignment, you can do the following:
- Insert a link to existing files
- Upload a new file from your desktop
When you upload a new file via the content editor, the file is retained in the course files and will be available for your students to download.
Use the content selector to insert images
You can add images to your page or assignment by uploading through the course files or by using the content selector. You can use the content selector to do the following:
- Upload a new image.
- Find images on the web through Flickr.
- Select from the listed images in the window.
You may want to save your work and check how the image will be viewed on the page prior to publishing since image sizes may affect how content looks to students.
