In this lesson, you will learn how to add a Zoom event to a calendar event.
You will need a personal Zoom URL in order to create a Zoom meeting. You can look at the "Create a Zoom Account" article for instructions on getting a personal Zoom URL.
Note: There is a 40 minute time restriction for Basic (free) Zoom accounts. You will need to schedule multiple Zoom meetings if you expect to exceed the allotted 40 minute time frame.
Copy your personal Zoom URL
Navigate to https://zoom.us/profile and copy your Personal Meeting URL to your clipboard.
You can create a Zoom meeting by adding this URL to any content item, email, discussion post, assignment, and calendar event. Below, you will learn how to add it to a calendar event.
Create a Calendar Event
To create a Zoom calendar event, navigate to your Ember calendar. It is located in the primary navigation across the top of your Ember screen.
After clicking the Add icon, you will see the following dialog box.
Note: Make sure to select the correct Calendar for your course. Otherwise, your students will not be able to see the event!
After selecting, enter the Title, Date, Time, and correct Calendar. Then click More Options to edit the body of your event.
Below, you also can see how we add a link to the event:
- Create a title for your event and add text.
- Highlight the text, then choose the External Link icon.
- Paste the personal Zoom URL you copied from the Zoom page.
When finished, select Insert Link.
Your students can now join your Zoom call.
Note: Your students will not be able to enter your Zoom discussion room unless you have logged in first.
Great job! Now you have a Calendar event with a Zoom link that your students can use to access your Zoom meeting. Remember that you can add your personal Zoom URL to any HTML page or message inside the Ember system. This makes it easy to specify a virtual meeting place for you and your students.
