The following section outlines features that will be available to users once the migration to the Canvas LMS is complete. We believe these features will have a positive impact on the learning and teaching experience.
Greater capability of accessing your courses on the go
Canvas will have a mobile application.
Canvas will have a mobile application available for download that will allow students and instructors to access their courses on mobile devices.
Reply to Canvas communication through email notifications.
You will now be able to reply to Canvas email notifications directly through your email inbox, giving you greater flexibility to communicate across different platforms.
Expanded user community and support
Users will now be able to take part in the Canvas Community where they can connect with other users outside of their institution.
The Canvas Community will give users access to the following features:
- Search the community for any on-going discussions or new releases
- Research How-to articles and user guides
- Suggest new features or vote on features that have been previously suggested
- Join groups where you can share ideas with other users about how to complete certain tasks
Canvas Commons will give course writers and admins access to a repository to share resources across their institution or with the public.
Educators will have access to a learning object repository through Canvas Commons that enables them to find, import, and share resources within their institution or with the public.
Course writers and admins will now have access to a library of LTI applications to enhance the student learning experience.
The EduAppCenter is an open LTI application center that allows you to browse a collection of applications that can be used within a course or Canvas account.
Users will now be able to contact Canvas Support through phone.
All users will be able to contact support through email/webform, live chat, or phone 24/7/365.
More practical grading tools
Instructors will have more grading tools available to them that will allow them provide to feedback to students directly within the LMS.
The following tools will make grading more efficient and will be available within SpeedGrader:
- Inline commenting and editing
- More optimized experience for viewing documents with Crocodoc
- Provide media (video or audio) comments to students
